Pickled Onion and Garlic
Two favorite ingredients together in one jar marinating for weeks with a perfect combination of spices, vinegar, and sugar is the key to this outstanding recipe for pickled onion and garlic.
  • 1cup distilled white vinegar
  • 1cup water
  • 1/3cup sugar
  • 1tbs kosher salt
  • 1tsp crushed red pepper flakes(1/2 tsp or less if you’re not a fan of spicy)
  • elephant or regular garlic
  • white onion, sliced
  • 1large bay leaf
  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine vinegar, water, sugar and salt and bring to a boil, stirring frequently. When the sugar and salt have dissolved, set aside to cool.
  2. In a mason jar, place red pepper flakes, garlic, bay leaf, and white onion. Pour cooled pickling mixture into the jar and seal tightly with a lid.
  3. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours or at most 2 months.
