Peanut Brittle
Get in the Halloween spirit and make your own candy! This peanut brittle recipe is fun for the whole family to make, and of course it’s delicious!

Ingredients
  • 1cup water
  • 2cups sugar
  • 1cup corn syrup
  • 2cups raw peanuts
  • 1tsp salt
  • 1-3tbs butter
  • 1/4tsp baking soda
  • 1tsp of vanilla
  • orange food dye,optional
  • candy thermometer
Instructions
  1. Bring 1 cup of water to a boil.
  2. Remove from heat, and stir in sugar until dissolved.
  3. Then add and stir in corn syrup, and orange food dye (optional)
  4. Cook to hard-ball stage (about 250 degrees), then add peanuts.
  5. Stir occasionally to keep nuts submerged, and cook to almost hard-crack stage. (295 degrees)
  6. Remove from heat, and gently stir in butter, baking soda, and vanilla.
  7. Pour onto a clean and well-buttered slab/cookie sheet, and spread quickly into a smooth thin layer.
  8. When cool, use a scrapper and break brittle into small pieces and store in an airtight container.
