How cute are these mini Frito taco cups? Talk about the perfect tailgating appetizer, we needed something yummy that we could pack up and bring to the party. We are both huge taco fans being in southern California we have had some amazing tacos from local places and food trucks. We are bringing all that local flavor to the meat in our little taco cups. They might be small but the pack a big flavorful punch of deliciousness that will have you coming back for another, and then maybe a few more.
The real secret to our taco meat is Penzeys original Taco seasoning and Tapatio hot sauce. The flavor combo of the seasoning with the heat of the Tapatio is perfect for beef taco meat. We were in A rush and wanted to make these quick because we were cooking for the whole party, so we used store bought salsa and guacamole. Next time we make this recipe we are gonna make some homemade salsa and guacamole we will update this post with recipes for both when we do.
If you are looking for something quick and super easy to travel with for a party or game day tailgating this recipe will save you lots of time. You could customize this recipe with different toppings like cheese, olives, or any other topping you love on a traditional taco.

- Cook the ground beef over medium heat until the juices run clear, making sure to break up the meat as you cook it. Brown slightly.
- Add taco seasoning, Tapatio and ½ cup water. Cook over medium-low heat until the water dissolves. You don't want too much juice or your taco salad will be a soggy mess.
- Prepare all you ingredients to start your layering process. If you have any ingredients that need to be chopped now is the time to do so.
- Start stacking your jars, remembering to put the wet ingredients at the bottom and the dryer ingredients at the top.
- Serve with Frito's for dipping.
