Happy hump day everyone. It’s been a trying week to say the least, and Friday can’t come fast enough. It hasn’t helped that the weather here in Southern California has been well into the 80’s in January. I can’t believe I am complaining considering how cold the weather is in other parts of the country, but it’s the fluctuation of temperature that breeds sickness. This time of year all I really want is warm heavy comfort food, but not when it’s 87 degrees out. Feeling very confused, but it’s not stopping us from sharing the ultimate comfort food, these delicious Meat Pie Rolls.
Everyone loves crescent rolls filled with some kind of delicious meat filling, and that’s exactly what these are. These Meat Pie Rolls are filled with seasoned ground chicken topped with a white sauce. An obvious tradition on Super Bowl Sunday is getting together with your friends and family, watching the game and eating tasty food. Easy for the people attending a Super Bowl gathering, but not so easy for those hosting.
Keep these Meat Pie Rolls in mind if your a host this year. You can throw them together right before everyone arrives, they are so quick and easy to make. You’ll want to serve them hot, but feel free to pre make them early in the day and reheat in the oven before everyone arrive. Be careful not to add too much of the white sauce, as the crescent roll dough will become hard to mold and might come out soggy after baking. These are based off of a recipe we found cooking through the “Joy of Cooking,” Cookbook. However, we changed this one up quite a bit. See the recipe notes for where you can find the original recipe in the book.
The last two recipes we’ve shared on the blog are appetizers themed specifically for a Super Bowl party. If your still working on building your Super Bowl menu, keep in mind our Chicken Salad Lettuce Cups, and homemade Garlic Hummus.
On that note, we want to mention a recipe roundup post we shared at the start of the football season that we will be re-sharing on Friday, so stay tuned for that as we all continue to search for delicious food ideas for the big day. In my opinion, football season is not just for football fans, but a great excuse for us foodies to get creative on new ways to serve foods that we all know and love. I’ll leave it at that, and we look forward to having you all back on Friday. Until then, hope everyone has a great rest of your week!
