The countdown to Halloween on the blog starts NOW! From now until the 31st we will be sharing Halloween themed foods like these adorable Chocolate Date Witch Hat Cupcakes. I want to start by saying how delicious this recipe is. The addition of the dates and orange rind is everything, and did we mention how adorable we think these are!? Doesn’t get more festive than this.
Thanks to the “Joy of Cooking” cookbook, we have found a new favorite chocolate flavored cupcake, and added our own little Halloween twist. If you didn’t know already, we are cooking through the book updating the older recipes, and adding our spin on them as well. Find the base of the recipe on page 670, and if you don’t have a copy already you can purchase it HERE. Our addition to this recipe was the witches hat. To create this, all you need is vanilla icing (made green with food dye), halloween themed oreos (with the orange center), orange or green sprinkles, and chocolate kisses. It was so simple to create, even kids can get involved in this fun activity.
Such a fun time of year, we cannot wait to share all the other fun Halloween foods we have in store, so come back and visit us soon! Stay tuned for more Halloween fun coming your way next week. Have a great weekend everyone, and happy baking!
